With zero commission per trade, its own platform, and compatibility with MT4, MT5, and TradingView, Capital.com is positioning itself as one of the region’s most comprehensive options for active traders. Here’s what you should know before opening an account.

Capital.com is an international trading platform founded in 2016 that lets investors around the world trade Contracts for Difference (CFDs) on a wide range of assets: currencies, indices, stocks, cryptocurrencies, commodities, and ETFs. Regulated in multiple jurisdictions and with more than 580,000 registered users worldwide, the platform has begun to gain traction among Latin American traders seeking access to international markets through an accessible interface in Spanish.

This article brings together the key information to help you understand what Capital.com offers, who it may suit, and what to consider before getting started.

What is Capital.com and how does it work?

Capital.com is an international broker for CFDs (Contracts for Difference), founded in 2016. It lets you trade more than 5,500 instruments in a single account: stocks, indices, currencies (forex), commodities, cryptocurrencies, bonds, and ETFs, all without owning the underlying asset.

When trading CFDs, traders speculate on whether an instrument’s price will rise or fall. This lets them open both long and short positions, and use leverage to control larger positions with less capital. However, leverage also amplifies losses: 79.75% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider, according to data published by the platform itself.

Costs and commissions: what you really pay

One of Capital.com’s main draws is its cost structure. It charges no commission per trade for any asset class, nor for opening or closing an account, or for deposits or withdrawals. The actual cost comes from the spread (the difference between the buy and sell prices) and, if positions are held overnight, overnight financing (swap).

Spreads are variable and competitive: from 0.6 pips on major pairs such as EUR/USD, from 0.30 USD on gold, and from 1.8 points on the Nasdaq index.

The minimum deposit is just 10 USD by VISA/Mastercard, Apple Pay, and other methods, making it very accessible to start trading on the platform.

Available instruments: more than 5,500 markets in a single account

Capital.com provides access to more than 5,500 instruments across the following asset classes:

  • Stocks: CFDs on Wall Street companies and stocks listed on other exchanges (Apple, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft), as well as some international markets.
  • Indices: S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Dow Jones, Germany’s DAX, and other major indices around the world.
  • Forex: dozens of currency pairs, from majors such as EUR/USD to less common crosses.
  • Commodities: gold, silver, oil, natural gas, and more.
  • Cryptocurrencies: CFDs on Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and others, with no need for a wallet.
  • Bonds and ETFs: including U.S. Treasury bonds and more than 1,300 ETFs.

A CFD is not the same as buying the asset

If your goal is to own stocks or cryptocurrencies over the long term, a CFD is not the right vehicle: you do not receive the asset or have shareholder rights, and overnight financing (swap) makes holding positions open for a long time more expensive. CFDs are designed for speculating on short-term price movements, not for building wealth.

Platforms and tools

Capital.com offers its own web platform and mobile app (iOS and Android), known for its clean, easy-to-use interface. For more technical traders, it integrates MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5) and a direct connection to TradingView, providing access to advanced charts, indicators, and automation.

It also includes a free demo account with virtual funds for risk-free practice, as well as the educational app Investmate, with courses, guides, and short lessons for traders who are just starting out or want to strengthen their fundamentals.

Capital.com regulation in Latin America

Capital.com serves clients in Latin America through Capital Com Online Investments Ltd, an entity regulated by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB). This means that although the platform operates legally under international regulation, Latin American users do not have direct protection from the financial regulators in their respective countries.

Below are the warnings that apply in the main Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America:

  • Mexico: Capital.com is not authorized by the CNBV or Banxico to operate in Mexico. Mexican users trade under the regulation of the SCB in The Bahamas. The CNBV warns of the risks of trading with entities that are not authorized in the country.
  • Colombia: Capital.com is not supervised by the SFC in Colombia. Colombian investors should consider that they do not have the protection of the Colombian financial system when using this platform.
  • Chile: The CMF has not yet authorized Capital.com to operate as a financial intermediary in Chile. Chilean users assume responsibility for trading with a foreign entity regulated in The Bahamas.
  • Argentina: Capital.com is not registered with Argentina’s CNV. Argentine users should consider the current foreign exchange regulations and the risks of using platforms that are not locally registered.
  • Peru: The SMV does not regulate or supervise Capital.com in Peru. Peruvian investors who use this platform do so at their own risk and without coverage from the local investor protection system.

Who is Capital.com for?

Capital.com is a solid option for those who want to trade CFDs actively, with low costs, good analytical tools, and access to thousands of instruments on a single platform. It has a Trustpilot rating of 4.6/5 based on more than 15,000 reviews, with users highlighting its ease of use and fast withdrawals.

It is not the right option for those looking to invest in real stocks over the long term, build a portfolio, or preserve savings: CFDs are a high-risk product for short- and medium-term speculation. Anyone who decides to explore the platform should first use the demo account and trade only with capital they can afford to lose.
