Tec de Monterrey launches Edtech call: IFE Accelerator 2026 seeks 10 LATAM startups

The Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) at Tecnológico de Monterrey opened applications for the fifth edition of IFE Accelerator 2026, Latin America’s most established Edtech acceleration program. The initiative will select 10 startups from the region for a hybrid program featuring in-person immersion in Mexico City and Monterrey, starting on 14 September 2026. Applications close on 26 July.

IFE Edtech Hub: A new ecosystem for educational entrepreneurship

IFE Accelerator is part of the IFE Edtech Hub, Tecnológico de Monterrey’s comprehensive platform (the most important and largest private university in Mexico), which brings together various programs and initiatives to support education-focused entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey: from courses for those with an idea to student incubation programs, the IFE TecPrize, and soft-landing pathways for expanding into Mexico.

The accelerator is the ecosystem’s highest-impact program, designed for startups with a product ready to commercialize and scale in Mexico.

Benefits of IFE Accelerator 2026

IFE Accelerator is an equity-freeprogram: the founders’ only expense is the flight to Mexico City for the first in-person phase. The IFE covers the rest of the program, including accommodation, meals, and two flights to Monterrey. Selected startups receive the following benefits:

  • Online workshops to prepare for entering the Mexican market: legal, culture, investment, and marketing
  • Participation in Mexico Tech Week with a personalized schedule of meetings with customers and investors
  • 2 weeks in Mexico City with accommodation and meals covered
  • Immersion in Monterrey with visits, connections to Tec, and access to the local ecosystem
  • Workspace in Distrito de Innovación Monterrey

  • Demo Day on the Main Stage at the IFE Edtech Summit in front of active investors, with recording included
  • Your own booth at the IFE Edtech Summit
  • Access to the alumni network of IFE Edtech Hub, with more than 200 startups in LATAM
  • Startuplinks membership included throughout the program

Soft landing in Mexico for Edtech startups from the region

IFE Accelerator is designed as a platform for entering the Latin American Edtech market, with a particular focus on Mexico: the region’s second-largest economy, with more than 130 million inhabitants and growing demand for educational technology solutions. While the program’s primary market will be Mexico, startups are expected to be able to replicate their business models in other major cities, including those in Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and beyond. The program has three specific objectives:

  1. Accelerate sales.
  2. Connect with the Mexican market.
  3. Open access to a network of active investors in the global Edtech ecosystem.

Unlike previous editions, this edition concentrates in-person activities at the most impactful moments, making the best use of founders’ time.

What kind of startup should apply?

The program has a 100% commercial focus: it seeks startups with a finished product that is ready to pilot. Startups from any country—including those in Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Europe—may apply, provided they are interested in the Mexican market and operate in one of the following verticals:

  • B2B Edtech (solutions for educational institutions)
  • Workforce upskilling and reskilling
  • AI-based learning infrastructure
  • HRTech focused on learning and development
  • Innovation in higher education
  • Corporate learning

"The market we know best is Mexico. The idea is for them to open up the market here, and they need to come ready to work hard. We’re looking for the best education technology entrepreneurs around the world to connect them with different areas of the university. We don’t favor any particular country; as long as they’re interested in the Mexican market, we’re a good match”, said César Sánchez, IFE Accelerator Manager.

IFE Accelerator success stories

With four previous editions, IFE Accelerator has brought together 35 startups from 15 countries and connected them with 30 investors. Its alumni include:

  • Udocz (Peru): Latin America’s largest university learning community, with more than 4 million active users. It is currently working with the World Bank and in the process of opening offices in Monterrey.
  • Mic&Pose (Colombia):  Accepted into Platanus Ventures 2026.
  • Simon (Mexico):  Closed its USD $1 million seed round.
