Satrack Ventures: The CVC focused on mobility and transportation startups in Latin America

Medellín, Colombia — Satrack, a multilatina company with three decades of experience in SaaS software and IoT for commercial transportation, continues to expand the active operations of Satrack Ventures, its investment arm for early-stage startups. With a current portfolio of 9 startup investments and check sizes ranging from USD $50,000 to $150,000, the fund aims to expand its portfolio of companies across the region.

Satrack Ventures’ investment thesis

Satrack Ventures invests in pre-seed and seed startups in the logistics, transportation, supply chain, and smart mobility verticals, with a geographic focus on Latin America and companies looking to enter the U.S. market. Unlike a traditional fund with fixed fundraising, investment, and liquidation periods, Satrack Ventures operates as an ongoing program, investing as opportunities arise and prioritizing both strategic learning and long-term financial returns.

  • Industries of interest: Mobility, logistics, transportation, and supply chain.
  • Stage: Pre-seed and seed
  • Geography: Latin America. Special interest in Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, the United States, Ecuador, and Argentina.
  • Investment check size: Initial checks of $50,000 to $150,000 USD
  • Sweet spot: The fund prioritizes complementary teams with at least two co-founders, the ability to keep learning, and the flexibility to pivot quickly in response to market feedback.

A bet on external innovation

“We see that external companies can have ideas, vision, and technology that will help us continue improving logistics for our customers,” explained Federico Salazar, CEO and General Manager of Satrack. “That’s why we decided to set up this venture capital program.”

Satrack currently monitors more than 140,000 vehicles, serving more than 60,000 customers in Colombia, Ecuador, Central America, and the United States. With 25 years of operating under a SaaS model—even before the term existed—and 100% in-house technology development, the company decided to complement its internal innovation capabilities by actively seeking startups that are solving real industry problems.

Satrack Ventures’ value proposition and portfolio

Satrack Ventures’ differentiator is more than just the check. Startups receiving investment can access:

  • Pilots with real customers: direct access to Satrack’s base of 60,000 customers to validate and scale their product.
  • Commercial partnerships: the opportunity to offer their solutions to Satrack’s customer ecosystem from day one.
  • Mentorship backed by a proven track record: + 30 years of experience building a SaaS and IoT company in transportation and mobility, with operations in multiple countries, including expansion into the United States.
  • Co-investment network: Connections with other funds in the region for future rounds.

Notable startups in the current portfolio include Velocity (Colombia), Airbag (Mexico), TripWip (Uruguay), Ruedata (Mexico), and TuulApp (Colombia), the latter of which has received direct support from Satrack to optimize its operations and make its SaaS model more profitable and replicable in the Colombian market.

“We like to see a strong conviction about the problem they’re trying to solve—and ideally, they’ve experienced it firsthand or indirectly, whether by working in that industry or having lived through it personally,” explains Federico Salazar, the company’s CEO.
