Prestamype raises US$27 million and accelerates its path toward becoming a digital bank for MSMEs

Peruvian fintech Prestamype announced a new capital injection of US$27 million, combining institutional debt and financing from existing investors, to strengthen its operations, expand its product offerings, and move closer to its goal of becoming Peru’s first digital bank for MSMEs.

Prestamype secures key financing to scale its operations

Prestamype, which focuses on financing micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) through mortgage-backed loans and factoring, closed a US$25 million institutional credit line with British fund Lendable. The agreement also includes the possibility of an increase in the future.

In parallel, the company raised US$2 million in a bridge round led by its existing investors: ALIVE Ventures, Oikocredit and Salkantay Ventures.

Carlos Ferreyros, the fintech’s CEO, explained that this combination of capital will strengthen the company’s financial structure and open up new growth opportunities.

“Lendable’s credit line will allow us to scale the volume of mortgage-backed loans and factoring we originate, deepen financial inclusion in Peru’s main regions, and optimize our average cost of funding,” Ferreyros said.

He also highlighted that the deal helps diversify the company’s funding sources and strengthen relationships with specialized international funds, adding Lendable as a third partner alongside IDB Lab and Triple Jump.

Establishing an SAFI and accessing public investment

One of the main goals of the capital raise is to establish an Investment Fund Management Company (SAFI), which will allow Prestamype to raise funds from both retail and institutional investors.

“With an SAFI, we’ll publicly raise capital from retail and institutional investors for our investment funds, as well as strengthen the company’s equity,” the CEO explained.

This move aims not only to broaden funding sources but also to facilitate access to capital to support the fintech’s growth over the medium and long term.

Record growth driven by factoring and loans

Since its founding in 2017, Prestamype has disbursed more than US$650 million in financing to MSMEs in Peru. In 2025 alone, the company posted record figures, driven primarily by its factoring business.

That year, the fintech reached US$319 million in factoring disbursements, representing growth of 163% compared with the US$121 million recorded in 2024.

Mortgage-backed loans and factoring account for more than 90% of the holding company’s revenue, establishing them as the pillars of its business model.

In addition, its digital currency exchange, Cambio Seguro, surpassed 67 thousand transactions, reaching a transaction volume of US$700 million.

Projections for 2026 and new products

For 2026, Prestamype projects accelerated growth across its main business lines. The fintech expects to reach US$85 million in loan disbursements, which would represent an increase of 104% over the previous year.

In factoring, the goal is to reach US$632 million in transactions, equivalent to growth of 118%.

“The outlook for factoring is highly favorable, given the record performance we’ve seen in recent periods,” Ferreyros said.

At the same time, the company is evaluating the launch of new products, including unsecured loans and leasing services, to diversify its portfolio.

Regional and international expansion in focus

Although Lima remains its main market, Prestamype has expanded to other regions of the country, which now account for 25% of its portfolio. It currently has a physical presence in Lima, Piura, and Trujillo.

As part of its growth strategy, the fintech is evaluating opening new offices in cities such as Arequipa, Huancayo, and Cusco.

Internationally, the company is considering expansion into Colombia and Mexico in the medium term.

Series A and long-term vision

Looking ahead, Prestamype plans to raise a Series A round of between US$10 million and US$15 million to accelerate its growth and consolidate its market position.

The fintech’s most ambitious goal is to become Peru’s first digital bank focused on MSMEs.

“We have significantly strengthened our loan origination and data- and statistical-model-based credit assessment capabilities, increasing disbursement volume by 130% over the past year while maintaining a controlled level of financial health,” Ferreyros concluded.
