Mozart raises US$600.000 to expand its conversational AI platform in emerging markets

Mozart, a Uruguayan startup specializing in artificial intelligence for debt collection management, announced the close of a US$600.000 pre-seed round led by Orbit Ventures. The round also included participation from Picante VC and a group of angel investors from Uruguay, Brazil, and Paraguay.

The company enters this new stage after building its business without external capital for more than a year, establishing operations in 15 countries, and building a base of more than 50 active corporate clients across markets in Latin America and Europe.

An AI platform designed to transform debt collection

Founded in 2024, Mozart was launched with a vision to modernize debt recovery processes through conversational artificial intelligence.

The startup has developed a platform powered by virtual agents that can contact debtors, negotiate in real time, interpret the tone and sentiment of conversations, and learn from every interaction without human intervention.

The model, called Agent as a Service (AaaS), lets companies upload their collections portfolios and start operating in less than 30 minutes.

The offering aims to address one of the financial sector’s main challenges: making debt recovery easier through more efficient processes tailored to each user’s needs.

Growth driven by customers and international expansion

Beyond the amount raised, the company highlights that it closed this round with a growing operation and an established customer base.

Mozart currently works with more than 50 companies, including organizations such as Bancolombia, BBVA, Santander and Shopee.

The startup also reports monthly revenue growth of nearly 20% and a presence in markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, and several European countries.

According to the company, these results validate its technology’s ability to adapt to different environments and debt collection needs.

The investors behind the round

The round was led by Orbit Ventures, a fund active in Southeast Asian and African markets—regions Mozart sees as strategic opportunities for its next stage of growth.

The company believes Orbit Ventures’ experience and network will be key to facilitating its entry into markets where debt collection processes are still evolving and demand for technology solutions is growing.

The investment also included participation from Picante VC, a fund focused on early-stage startups in Latin America, as well as angel investors from Uruguay, Brazil, and Paraguay.

Asia, Africa, and new markets on the radar

According to Christian Valdomir, one of the main draws of Asia and Africa is that they share characteristics with the Latin American markets Mozart encountered in its early years.

“Southeast Asia and Africa have something in common with the LatAm where we started: a huge debt collection problem and infrastructure to solve it that is only just beginning to mature. That is exactly the window we know how to seize.”

The startup believes its experience developing technology for emerging markets gives it a competitive advantage in regions facing similar challenges.

What’s next for Mozart

The funds raised will go toward three main areas. The first is accelerating commercial expansion in Brazil and Mexico, markets where the company already has active customers and local partners.

Mozart will also continue investing in the development of its technology infrastructure, including Réquiem, its proprietary machine learning models, and enhancements to its artificial intelligence platform.

Finally, the startup will move forward with entering new international markets. In addition to Asia and Africa, the company plans to strengthen its presence in the United States, Spain, Portugal, and France, building on its participation in the programs LAN Accelerator and EU-LAC, where it has already been selected.

A startup already thinking about its next round

Despite closing this pre-seed round, the company believes it is only at the beginning of its growth journey.

With a team of 19 people and expanding international operations, Mozart is already preparing for its next funding round, aiming to continue scaling its technology and compete in increasingly broad markets.

The company remains committed to building world-class technology infrastructure from Latin America, focusing on solving real challenges in emerging markets through artificial intelligence applied to debt collection management.
