Infinia accelerates its global expansion after closing a $ US$ 13,5 million Series A round
Infinia raises $ US$ 13,5 million in a Series A round to expand its digital finance infrastructure across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Infiia announced the close of a $ US$13,5 million Series A round, funds that will allow it to accelerate the expansion of its digital financial infrastructure across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, as well as strengthen its regulatory presence in strategic markets.
Bain Capital and Variant Fund lead the investment
The oversubscribed Series A round was led by Bain Capital and Variant Fund. Other participants included Y Combinator, Lattice, Varrock, Reverie, Decacorn, G2 Momentum Capital and Tekton Ventures.
With this new capital, the company will seek to obtain additional regulatory licenses in various regions and expand its operations in its main markets across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
Infrastructure connecting traditional banking with digital assets
As more companies adopt digital assets to make international payments, many continue to rely on local currencies and national banking systems to operate. In this context, Infinia is developing the infrastructure that connects both worlds: traditional banking networks and financial systems based on digital assets.
Its platform enables companies to operate on on-chain payment networks without losing access to local financial systems such as Pix in Brazil or SPEI in Mexico. Thanks to an architecture designed with a regulatory compliance focus, the company manages each market’s KYC and KYB requirements, as well as the complexity of regional banking networks, facilitating automated settlements in multiple currencies and continuous, real-time treasury management.
“Global monetary systems are evolving rapidly as technology transforms how commerce works. Although on-chain networks and automation are changing how money moves, companies still need to operate in local currencies. That is precisely the challenge we solve,” said Ianai Urwicz, CEO and co-founder of Infinia.
The executive added that the company’s goal is to become the infrastructure layer that enables companies in emerging markets to move seamlessly between traditional financial services and blockchain-based payment networks.

A lean operation serving global fintechs
Although it has a team of just 20 employees, Infinia has established itself as an infrastructure partner for fintechs, marketplaces, and global enterprise platforms.
Its customers include companies such as Stripe/Bridge, OpenFX, Kast, and Despegar, which it provides with infrastructure to facilitate cross-border financial operations.
Founded by entrepreneurs with fintech and technology experience
Infinia was founded by Ianai Urwicz, who was part of the founding team at dLocal (NASDAQ: DLO), alongside Alejandro Rettig, the company’s CTO, who has 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and financial systems sectors.
The startup was born as part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 cohort, after being selected from more than 20.000 applicants worldwide.

Bain Capital highlights the challenge of connecting local financial systems
For Parth Chopra, a partner at Bain Capital, one of the industry’s biggest challenges is effectively connecting stablecoin-based infrastructure with national banking systems.
“There’s a lot of talk about stablecoins, but the complexity of the last mile is underestimated: actually connecting on-chain networks with local fiat accounts and systems in emerging markets,” Chopra said.
He also noted that Infinia’s team has done the engineering and regulatory compliance work needed to integrate with local payment systems in different countries, positioning the company as a fintech infrastructure provider for businesses looking to expand globally from day one.
