HSBC grants Nexu US$143 million to boost auto lending with artificial intelligence
Nexu secures a US$143 million credit line from HSBC to expand auto financing and financial inclusion in Mexico.

Nexu announced the closing of a US$143 million credit line from HSBC, financing that will allow the Mexican fintech to expand access to auto loans and strengthen its financial inclusion strategy. The funds will be used to finance more than 10.000 vehicles in the country, supporting the growth of a platform that uses artificial intelligence to assess credit applications.
New credit line to drive loan portfolio growth
The credit facility, equivalent to MXN$2.500 million, will significantly increase Nexu’s financing capacity and support its goal of increasing new loan originations by 50%.
The company currently has a portfolio of more than 20.000 loans and will channel the new capital through a network of more than 1.000 dealerships across Mexico.
Artificial intelligence to transform auto financing
Founded in 2014 by Abdon Nacif and Fernando Gómez, Nexu was established to modernize Mexico’s auto financing market through the use of technology.
Its proprietary platform uses artificial intelligence and data analytics to conduct immediate risk assessments, enabling real-time credit approvals and solutions tailored to each customer’s profile through a fully digital process.
A focus on customers with limited credit histories

The strategy of Nexu focuses on serving consumers who have traditionally faced difficulties accessing financing because they lack a credit history or have nontraditional financial profiles.
According to Fernando Gómez, the company’s cofounder, more than half of Nexu’s customers get their first opportunity to access an auto loan through the company.
This approach aims to expand access to financing in a market where most new vehicle purchases are made on credit.
A dealership network strengthens its market position
In addition to its technology model, Nexu has established a significant presence in the automotive sector through its integration with dealerships that represent 50% of the Mexican market.
This network streamlines the approval process for buyers and gives dealers a tool to boost sales through fast, digital financing solutions.

Financial structure earns international recognition
The transaction with HSBC also stands out for its financing structure, which received investment-grade ratings from international agencies Fitch Ratings and Moody’s.
With this, Nexu becomes the first Mexican fintech to receive this type of rating for its credit lines, recognition that underscores the company’s financial discipline and its goal of building a portfolio aligned with international standards.
HSBC backs Nexu’s expansion strategy
Executives from both organizations highlighted the partnership’s potential to expand access to credit in Mexico.
Abdon Nacif, Nexu’s cofounder, highlighted the platform’s ability to provide real-time approvals, a feature that benefits both customers and affiliated dealerships.
For his part, Mauricio Alazraki, of HSBC Mexico, said the credit line reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting responsible growth centered on customers’ needs.
With this financing, Nexu aims to accelerate its impact on Mexico’s auto credit market by combining artificial intelligence, digital processes, and a focus on consumers traditionally underserved by the financial system.
