GNP bets on a new healthcare model built on prevention and technology

With more than 120 years of experience in the insurance sector, GNP Seguros continues to strengthen its innovation strategy by investing, alongside its subsidiary Médica Móvil, more than 137 million pesos (around $8 million dollars) in Mexican healthtech startup Meddi.

The goal of this investment is to accelerate the creation of an integrated healthcare ecosystem combining digital tools and physical capabilities to offer policyholders a more accessible, preventive, and efficient experience.

Meddi: a platform connecting the entire healthcare ecosystem

Meddi, based in Guadalajara, has developed a technology platform that connects insurers, companies, doctors, and users in a single digital environment.

The startup currently has nationwide coverage and a network that includes more than 58 hospitals, 5,000 specialists, and more than 300 laboratories, enabling users to continuously monitor their health, detect risks early, and access timely care.

From reaction to prevention: a paradigm shift in health insurance

The partnership aims to transform the traditional role of insurers, moving from providing financial support when illness strikes to becoming active participants in preventive health management.

“At GNP Seguros, we firmly believe that prevention is key to society’s sustainable growth. This investment represents a concrete step toward the digital transformation of Mexico’s healthcare sector,” said Jesús Martínez, CEO of GNP Seguros.

An integrated model built on three pillars

The new healthcare ecosystem developed by GNP, Médica Móvil, and Meddi is based on three main pillars:

  • Prevention: AI-powered digital tools to monitor habits, detect risks, and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Care: clinical follow-up through telemedicine, electronic health records, and coordination with private medical services.
  • Protection: integration with insurance products to offer simpler, more personalized solutions.

Technology + infrastructure: the key to the ecosystem

One of the partnership’s key differentiators is the combination of Médica Móvil’s medical infrastructure—which includes doctors, ambulances, and hospitals—and Meddi’s technological capabilities.

This makes it possible to build an interoperable physical and digital ecosystem that connects all healthcare system stakeholders on a single platform.

A regional vision for digital health

For Meddi, this investment is a key step toward scaling its vision across Latin America.

“Our purpose is to make taking care of your health as easy as using an app. This partnership allows us to build an ecosystem where prevention, care, and protection are truly connected,” said Pablo Aguirre, CEO and co-founder of Meddi.

The initiative also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being through more accessible, efficient, and sustainable healthcare models.
