Caricaco Ventures launches CV2 to invest in founders connected to Central America and the Dominican Republic
Caricaco Ventures announced the launch of CV2, a new fund focused on founders in Central America and the Dominican Republic who are building global software and technology companies.

The regional entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to gain international prominence, and platforms such as the Caricaco Summit reflect how Central America and the Dominican Republic are seeking to establish themselves as hubs for innovation and venture capital. In this context, Caricaco Ventures announced the official launch of CV2, a new investment vehicle focused on founders connected to the region who are building global companies.
The firm explained that this new phase represents a more ambitious effort to firmly establish Central America and the Dominican Republic (CA and DR) on the global venture capital (VC) map.
A new step in Caricaco Ventures’ evolution
The launch of CV2 marks the culmination of a journey that began in 2015, when Caricaco started operating as an academy and incubator. Later, in 2021, the organization evolved into an active investor in the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Since then, the firm has supported startups and strengthened connections among founders, investors, and key players in the technology ecosystem.

Results backing the new phase
According to Caricaco Ventures, the performance of the startups it has supported demonstrates the entrepreneurial potential of Central America and the Dominican Republic, regions that have historically received little attention from global venture capital.
To date, the firm’s portfolio has accumulated:
- 27 companies backed across six countries
- More than 450 jobs created
- US$29 million in sales generated by the startups during 2025
- The share of companies that have raised capital in the region through Caricaco Ventures programs or initiatives: 95%

CV2 aims to become the founders’ “first check”
With this new fund, Caricaco Ventures aims to position itself as the “first check” for entrepreneurs with ties to Central America and the Dominican Republic, regardless of where they build their companies.
As part of this strategy, the firm announced that it has doubled its investment checks, which will now start at US$200,000.
CV2 is specifically aimed at two types of entrepreneurs:
- Founders of Central American origin operating anywhere in the world
- Founders of any nationality with their headquarters or a significant operation in Central America
“We believe that we can change the world from Central America. Our experience with our portfolio has shown us that we have the talent, drive, and determination to build companies that will change the future of our region. Our mission is to walk alongside founders in their early stages. There has never been a better time to build a company in our region,” said Rodrigo Villalta, Managing Director of Caricaco Ventures.
Technology and software at the heart of investment

Caricaco Ventures’ investment thesis will continue to focus on software startups and scalable technology solutions.
Key strategic pillars of the new fund include:
- Investment in software and AI-native startups 100% that already have an MVP on the market
- Founding teams with diverse and complementary backgrounds
- Solutions capable of addressing problems on a global scale from the region
The firm reiterated its view that Central America can become a source of technology companies with international impact.
A regional community focused on entrepreneurial growth
In addition to its investment activity, Caricaco Ventures has built a community of Central American founders through various initiatives, including its weekly newsletter, the Academy, the Capitanes podcast, and the Caricaco Summit itself.
According to the firm, this network gives it direct access to entrepreneurial talent and enables it to support founders in their early growth stages.
With the launch of CV2, Caricaco Ventures is reaffirming its commitment to startups as a driver of economic and social development for Central America and the Dominican Republic. Founders interested in applying to the fund can do so through the official website of Caricaco Ventures.
