Braven raises US$4,6 million to expand into London and strengthen its insurance platform

Braven raises US$4,6 million in a Seed round to expand into London and strengthen its AI-powered insurance infrastructure platform.

Braven raises US$4,6 million to expand into London and strengthen its insurance platform

Braven, a technology company founded by a Colombian team and focused on the insurance industry, announced the close of a US$4,6 million Seed round to drive its international expansion, deepen its artificial intelligence capabilities, and strengthen its presence in Latin America and the United States.

Seed round to support global expansion strategy

Braven announced the close of a US$4,6 million Seed funding round as part of its next stage of growth. The proceeds will be used to accelerate the company's entry into the London market and consolidate its operations in Latin America.

The round was led by Collide Capital, a U.S.-based venture capital fund, and included participation from Fiat Ventures, MGV, Carao Ventures, Angeles VC, and Broom Ventures. According to the company, the group of investors also included strategic angels in C-suite positions within the global reinsurance industry.

The announcement coincides with a corporate rebranding process that, according to Braven, reflects its evolution from a submissions digitization tool into an infrastructure platform for the insurance sector powered by artificial intelligence agents.

A bet on insurance industry infrastructure

Braven's repositioning is grounded in a vision for the future of the insurance industry. According to the company, the sector's main challenge lies not in product innovation, but in the infrastructure that supports its most important operational processes.

Activities such as placing risks, assessing portfolio performance, or launching new products can currently take several months. Braven argues that these processes could be completed in minutes using a technology architecture operated by artificial intelligence agents and supervised by people at critical decision points.

“The insurance industry sells protection against change, but operates on timelines that cannot withstand change. What takes months today—placing a risk, measuring a portfolio's performance, launching a product—should take minutes. We're not talking about doing the same thing faster; we're talking about changing the sector's operating model,” said Carlos Chávez, Braven's founder and CEO.

The company describes its platform as an environment where insurance brokers, MGAs (managing general agents), and reinsurers can build customized operational workflows within a system designed to be auditable.

The capabilities highlighted in the announcement include a real-time traceability layer for entities providing capacity and a connectivity layer linking global reinsurers with local distribution vehicles.

More than US$800 million processed through the platform

According to figures shared by Braven, more than US$800 million in Gross Written Premium (GWP) was channeled through its platform during the most recent operating cycle.

The company also reported having active clients in seven countries across three continents, though it did not disclose figures broken down by market or the names of its commercial counterparties.

Latin America's insurtech sector continues to grow

Braven's announcement comes amid sustained expansion in Latin America's insurtech ecosystem.

According to the LATAM Insurtech Journey report, the sector grew by 370% in the first half of 2025, making it one of the fastest-growing categories in the regional financial technology ecosystem.

Braven currently operates in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Panama, markets that combine established institutional portfolios with still-limited adoption of agentic technology in underwriting processes.

London emerges as a strategic market

The company plans to open its London office this month, starting by hiring two commercial roles, while keeping other recruitment processes open.

This move brings Braven closer to one of the world's most important markets for delegated authority and specialty insurance, an environment aligned with the company's ambition to become an infrastructure layer for the industry.

“Throughout my career in the insurance industry, I've seen significant investment go toward digitizing outdated processes, but far less effort focused on rethinking the architecture behind them. Sytrex changes that dynamic: instead of automating tasks, it amplifies insurance professionals' capabilities, allowing each person to work as if they had a team of one hundred assistants supporting them,” said Matthias Weber, angel investor and former reinsurance industry executive.

Braven's priorities for the next 12 months

Braven said the proceeds from this round will go toward three strategic priorities over the next year.

These include strengthening the artificial intelligence platform on which its system operates, establishing London as a priority market, and bolstering its installed base in both Latin America and the United States.

The company did not disclose revenue projections or specific commercial targets for each market in this new stage of growth.
