Betterplan raises US$1,1 million and prepares to expand into Argentina

Betterplan, the Chilean fintech specializing in wealth management, raised US$1,1 million in a new funding round that it will use to finance its expansion into Argentina. The deal was led by the Anastassiou family office and also included another family office, whose identity has not been disclosed, and Fondo Vulcano, which increased its stake in the company.

With this new round, Betterplan has raised approximately US$4 million to date and is advancing a strategy focused on individuals, families, and businesses with significant financial assets.

Betterplan initially focused on retail investors, but later changed its strategy to serve clients with greater financial resources.

The shift stemmed from an opportunity the company identified: to offer independent wealth advice powered by technology, combining digital tools with personalized financial guidance.

During 2022 and 2023, the financial environment led Betterplan to reconsider the priority segment for its business. As part of this pivot, the company raised its minimum investment to $100 million Chilean pesos and began competing for clients whose assets can exceed US$2 million.

Today, its offering is built around four elements:

  • Technology: a digital platform that facilitates investment management and tracking.
  • Advice: personalized financial guidance for clients with substantial assets.
  • Open architecture: access to a range of investment options without relying on a single asset manager.
  • Wealth Management: a wealth management service closer to the traditional model.

Argentina becomes the next market

Expansion into Argentina was already part of Betterplan’s plans before this round closed. In February, the company had announced its intention to begin operations in the country during the second half of the year.

For José Tomás Valente, Betterplan’s co-founder and CEO, Argentina represents an opportunity because of the size of its market and the potential for greater financial depth.

“It’s a large market, but its capital market is smaller than it should be, and that creates an opportunity for growth,” Valente explained.

The company also sees an opportunity in assets held outside the traditional financial system, particularly among people who may need specialized wealth management services.

In this process, Joaquín Rhodiuswill play an important role, bringing knowledge of the Argentine market and experience in wealth management. Before joining Betterplan, he spent ten years as a Wealth Management manager at LarrainVial and also worked at BBVA and Standard Bank Argentina.

From US$120 million to nearly US$150 million in assets under management

The international expansion follows a period of growth in Chile. Betterplan doubled its assets under management in 2024 and again in 2025.

At the end of 2025, the company managed US$120 million, a figure that later rose to approximately US$150 million, belonging to around 2.000 clients.

With a team of 18 people, the fintech also projected that it would double its assets under management again in 2026, driven by growth in its client base and international expansion.

Betterplan was founded in 2020 by José Tomás Valente and Rafael Alonso with the goal of bringing the features of multifamily offices to a technology platform.

Its model aims to combine digital tools with human advice to make services traditionally associated with high-net-worth clients available to a broader group of investors.

Valente continues as CEO, while Joaquín Rhodius serves as co-founder and chief commercial officer, bringing his wealth management experience to the company.

The model has operational support in Chile and is overseen by the Financial Market Commission, while investments are held in custody by regulated entities.

Fondo Vulcano increases its stake

The new round also brought changes to Betterplan’s corporate structure. Alan Jarry joined the board on behalf of Fondo Vulcano, replacing Juan Sosa Larraín.

The fund also increased its stake in the company as part of the deal.

The new capital will support the launch in Argentina and the continued development of a platform designed for clients with more complex wealth management needs.

Betterplan begins a new regional chapter

With approximately US$4 million raised and close to US$150 million under management, Betterplan is embarking on international expansion after consolidating its growth in Chile.

The US$1,1 million round makes Argentina a central part of the company’s next phase, as the fintech seeks to bring its independent wealth management offering to a market where it sees an opportunity to serve high-net-worth clients.
