Addi closes $ US$85 million Series D to accelerate growth and investment in AI

Addi closes a $ US$86 million Series D to accelerate growth, strengthen its AI strategy, and expand its business.

Addi closes $ US$85 million Series D to accelerate growth and investment in AI

Addi announced the closing of a $ US$85 million Series D investment round, one of the largest capital injections received by a Colombian technology company in recent years. The transaction will allow the fintech to accelerate its commercial growth and drive the development of new technological capabilities, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence.

Citius and BTG Pactual lead new investment

The round was led by Citius, an Addi investor since 2020, which decided to increase its stake in the company through a preemptive offer and, as part of the agreement, will join the board of directors.

The transaction was also co-led by BTG Pactual, marking the Brazilian bank’s first growth-capital investment in a Colombian technology company and the first deployment of its growth fund in three years.

Also participating were GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and Monashees, an investor in the company since its first round.

“This is a round we didn’t need; we raised it because Citius approached us,” said Santiago Suárez, Addi’s co-founder and CEO. “Given the business’s profitability and growth, we expect this to be the last round we’ll see for quite a while.”

Capital will drive commercial growth and artificial intelligence

Founded in 2018 by Santiago Suárez, Daniel Vallejo and Elmer Ortega, Addi will use the new funds to accelerate its growth, though not to finance its credit portfolio, a business area it continues to support with debt.

As Suárez explained, the investment will focus on two priorities: strengthening new customer acquisition through marketing strategies and increasing investment in technology and the company’s artificial intelligence roadmap.

The CEO noted that AI has significantly increased the efficiency of its engineering and product teams, to the point that a round of this size would have required between $ US$200 million and $ US$300 million just three years ago to achieve similar results.

The fintech currently serves 5,5 million customers and works with 76.000 partner merchants, present at 75.000 physical points of sale across 1.034 municipalities in Colombia.

This year, the company projects issuing $11 trillion in loans, more than double the $5,2 trillion recorded the previous year. According to the company, if Addi operated as a credit card, it would rank third in the Colombian market by volume.

Another notable indicator is the quality of its portfolio: the delinquency rate for loans more than 90 days past due stands at 1,1%, below the 3,9% reported by the Colombian banking system.

Despite expected growth, Addi will keep its workforce stable at approximately 490 employees. Between 2023 and the end of 2025, the company multiplied its revenue by 17, while personnel costs only doubled.

More than $ US$820 million in debt and equity since its founding

Since its founding, Addi has secured more than $ US$680 million in debt commitments, backed by institutions such as Goldman Sachs, BBVA, Citigroup and JP Morgan, as well as more than $ US$140 million in equity from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, GIC, Monashees and Union Square Ventures.

In April this year, the company also closed a $ US$150 million structured credit facility, comprising $ US$130 million from JP Morgan and $ US$20 million from Fasanara Capital. According to the company, this is the first warehouse financing facility structured by JP Morgan for a Colombian company in more than five decades of presence in the country.

Sustained profitability and new financial services

Addi’s financial performance continues to show a positive trend. During 2025, it reported more than $ $27.000 million in net income after taxes, while in the first quarter of 2026 it posted more than $ US$25.000 million in pretax profit, marking its eighth consecutive quarter of positive results.

Suárez said the expectation is to more than double those profits this year.

The round comes shortly after the Financial Superintendency authorized Addi CF to operate as a financing company, allowing it to accept deposits backed by Fogafín and offer savings accounts. This is in addition to a partnership with Credibanco, which expands the acceptance of its services to 221.000 payment terminals in Colombia.

International expansion remains on the horizon

Although the company continues to strengthen its financial position, Suárez ruled out having a defined timeline for a potential IPO.

“We’re not on a clock; we’re not the kind of people who say, ‘We have to go public by a certain point,’” the executive said, explaining that Addi’s investors have liquidity horizons of between 10 and 20 years.

In the short term, the strategy will remain focused on expanding the business, increasing monetization, strengthening customer service, and then moving toward international expansion.
